Between now and 2019, the big boy 4014 will be running. All you have to do is keep Union Pacific in your prayers and hope that the restoration goes well. I have been following the restoration for some time now.DavidTinyauNg2000 (talk) 22:53, January 25, 2017 (UTC)

Tucson-Phoenix passener rail is something I would like to see take place. Right now though, it's just a fantasy. Whether it becomes reality or not, only time will tell. It probably never will.

Anyway these are a few drawings I've created.

This is my drawing of what the Tucson-Phoenix passenger train may look like. Though I drew this picture, I didn't design this, actually I'm a copycat. Actually this, if I'm not mistaken, belongs to AZDOT (AriZona Department of Transportation) In fact you can see this train on video on this website http://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/arizona/2015/09/08/adot-narrows-choices-phoenix-tucson-rail-route/71883962/ For the AZDOT website, at least to the Passenger Rail Study page: https://www.azdot.gov/plannin…

I would like to share my favorite locomotives and cars, namely the ones used in North America. I would also like to talk about my favorite locomotive horns.

    Locomotives

    Diesel Locomotives

    -For Freight trains

My most favorite of diesel locomotives used for freight trains are the following:

    -AC4400CW -C40-8

I have no idea which one of these I like better because they're kind of the same, well to me almost the same but these are my two most favorite locomotives used for freight and I'd use these if I had my own freight rail company.

However, though their horns sound okay, I prefer to use the horns typically mounted on the SD90/43MAC locomotives, which, to tell you the truth, aren't really one of my favorite locomotives, the a…

Although I like the crossing gate lights we use, like the 4" incandescent and L.E.D. lights, the 7" lights, Alstom Aurora gate L.E.D.s, Union Pacific's octagon shaped L.E.D.s, and the Western Cullen Hayes L.E.D.s, there are at least a couple gate lights I wish existed, but I'll talk about one in particular.

Anybody know those school bus STOP sign lights that are L.E.D. This kind:

    Hi Guys.

January 23, 2015 by Paul Thomas Wilson

Been looking through Locomotive Wikia, and I am disappointed at the lack of knowledge of British modern traction in the US. Our steam locos seem to be more popular but far from comprehensively covered. I will be editing all British pages as there is some inaccurate information on a lot of them, and as a British rail engineer and rail fan I am more than happy to share my knowledge of British locomotives. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to drop me a line.

Hello everyone, and thank you to everyone who's been actively helping contribute some things to the site. Perhaps inexcusably I myself have not been in that group. I feel regret at this, but hey, when it comes down to it it's my choice in the end. Regardless, I'd still like to put on a spiel of my own :) So, Railcamp 2014 East is completed, and let me tell you, what an incredible experience that was. I learned so much it's ridiculous. That was easily the greatest experience of my life. I really hope I get the time to update a lot of relevant pages on here with things I learned at the program. We went to Wilmington Delaware, Washington D.C., and Strasburg, PA for in depth tours and learning experiences. But, another thing happened while at …

Hello all, and happy (belated) anniversary! Those timezones sure did a number on us, eh? I didn't have the time I hoped I would either and that was a pain. There are still some questions about Aussie railroading I still have in mind for when I know I have plenty of time. As for the wiki, looks like things have been calm except for some childish type edits and stuff. I'm excited for the page we finally have on 4501! It's off to a good start and soon can be paraded with the rest of the "goal" articles we have done so far. One last piece of information I'm pleased to share: I've been accepted into the National Railroad Historical Society railcamp program. This is a program which helps train future railroad employees in the various fields of r…

Seeing as it's the 3rd anniversary of the wiki, and we're having a "big party" of sorts, I thought I might show some pictures of my LEGO trains. I design and build my own trains, which are motorised, so its like a mega model railway. Currently I only really have one, but that figure should increase to 2, possibly 3 by the end of the year. My current train is a V set, an EMU from New South Wales. I've taken these photos at the train station which I've also built. When I finish my next one, I'll post it on a new blog.

    Timetable

February 17, 2014 by Starfleet Academy

Hello everybody! This blog is going to cover what we've got cooking over the next few months, and beyond in certain cases. Firstly, I will be trying to get as much as possible done myself, but if I'm not here it's not me dodging the problem, it's the Australian summer stopping me from running my PC.

This isn't just more jaw-jaw, this will be a dynamic list which I'll update with other peoples' ideas while crossing off stuff that's been completed. I believe I've got everything here that I've been collecting over the past few months, however if I've forgotten something I said would be here please remind me. :) The aim is to get as much of this fixed as possible before the three-year anniversary that is coming up soon.

Today, I finally finished my HO scale Amtrak station. It would be one that is based in Canada.

It is named after a community in my area.

Station codes: Amtrak: GBRL, VIA Rail: MRKM.

I will post a grand opening video soon. It will feature a funny part! (HINT: The train failing to cut the ribbon and instead drags 2 poles down with it.)

With help from Dan Garcia from Rapido Trains, I have returned 3 of my 5 once-damaged passenger cars to service following an extensive test.

New axles are currently being delivered for the 2 remaining damaged cars. They are expected to clear testing and return to service by Canadian Thanksgiving.

As seen clearly in the photo to the right, defective wheels have caused a large derailment on my layout. The CN sleeper's bad wheelset caught the track at 79mph scale and lost both its trucks and pulled whatever was behind it down with it.

Time to replace my rolling stock roster with better cars, such as Superliners, Amfleets, and Walthers Budd stainless steel cars.

I also need to re-lay the track.Bachmann's EZ Track has too many bumps on it.

Thankfully, no one was inside the train at the time.

In light of the resolution, we now have a rebuild operation on our hands. I know that you all want to just jump straight in and start fixing the site, but we actually do need a plan of attack.

I propose that we fix first the articles on diesel locomotives. But the question is should I

    Due To Consideration

    August 27, 2013 by HenryDuckFan

It has come to me that everyone is all frustrated at the current (and on-going) debate that has been occurring since the end of July. Although a tad bit of progress has been made to solve such issue, nothing has changed; better yet, things have escalated into a complete and total disaster!

Since Altoona (Jacob) and C-643DH (James) have joined the community (ironically during the exact same time Gavin returned from his long absence and recent status as a bureaucrat; considering that he literally begged for me to give him such status), I honestly haven't been myself ever since!

Sure I may seem paranoid (say what you want, but remember that it will get you nowhere in life), but what difference does it make by how disgraceful said link is?

    Why ar…

OK. Enough's enough. HenryDuckFan (Corbin Wise) has been undoing good edits for far too long and replacing them with false information that has been proved many times as fallacy. Then there is the deletion of opinion counter to his own, and protecting of a page if it's edited. I'm not going to go through and link to individual cases; I believe that there's sufficient material out there already to explain this move.

The community has been trying to convince Corbin of a better leadership style for a long time — Corbin doesn't want to hear it. If we want to move forward, if we want to climb out of the hole we find ourselves in, then we must ask this question: Do we want HenryDuckFan as a bureaucrat/admin?

I believe in Locomotive Wiki. I believe …

    LW's future

August 19, 2013 by Starfleet Academy

Hi, all! I've finally decided to go in to print on what I believe to be best course of action in salvaging Locomotive Wiki. This blog will outline my plan to make LW more inclusive, more reliable and more successful. We're going down a well traveled path... let's just not deviate from that which is easiest. From looking at what we have to change, the less unique things we do now, so leave for later, the faster we get back on track!

I guess this should be first on the ticket: I see no reason why LW shouldn't be like all other wikis and allow users, and anons alike, to edit the articles. It's how a wiki works. There has been far too much emphasis on opinion, and far too little on fact and concrete evidence of late. This has to be ended. All s…

    Canada day!

    July 1, 2013 by VIARailFan25

July 1st... It means only one thing.., in Canada, it means fireworks, outdoor BBQs, and large parties.

On July 1, 1867, a nation was born. Today, we celebrate it as Canada day, or Confederation day.

What am I going to do on Canada day? I'm going around Toronto on the TTC, but I won't be filming because of an earlier run-in with 2 Arrow Road division workers. Long story short, they thought I was filming to make money and tried to kick me out, but I arrived at my destination before they could do so.

As of the end of June, GO Transit has increased the off-peak frequency of the Lakeshore GO Train from 1 hour to half an hour. This would mean a lot more traffic on the line, but it would also mean there's a greater chance of me actually catching a train to railfan, especially at the places where I actually do any railfanning so far; Clarkson/Port Credit GO Station, Guildwood VIA, and Rouge Hill GO. No, this does NOT mean I can travel to Kingston whenever I please! It's too far to reach by commuter train.

With this much ridership (every train in the summer is full, and there are 12 Bombardier BiLevel cars in each consist GO runs, and the second floor of the train is full-sized, not gallery-style), as well as the Uxbridge frequency expansion,…
