Myrtle

Carbon Limestone Co. No. 3 (Myrtle) is a 2-4-0 steam locomotive it was built in 1943 by H. K. Porter for Carbon Limestone Company and named Myrtle.

The locomotive was design to haul sugarcane for the Carbon Limestone Company until it was retired in 1945.

It was also originally used to move limestone from the carbon limestone quarry to a nearby crusher/distribution facility.

The LKPRR similarly altered the appearance of this engine, but gave it a slightly more modern appearance, representative of a typical oil-burning engine from the early 20th century.

Today it's restore by the Lahaina, Kaanapali and Pacific Railroad in Lahaina, Hawaii.

This locomotive has a steel cab, whaleback tender, small headlight modeled on an electric prototype, and darker color scheme.

This locomotive is produced as a brother engine to No. 1.

This is an example of a steam locomotive with a whaleback tender.

It is currently in operating condition and the most often used locomotive to pull excursions and it this is also an engine that is beautifully restored and sports a vibrant paint scheme.

The No. 3's design, name and number were inspired by a historic sugar cane engine built in 1900 for the Hawaii Railroad and retired in 1945.

In 2012 the engine crash into a car but the engine was all right.

The engine once used to a doubleheader with Brother locomotive No. 1 on the Lahaina, Kaanapali and Pacific Railroad.
