Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railway (EJ&E) No. 765 is a type of 2-8-2 'Mikado' steam locomotive. It was built in 1929 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railway.

The locomotive was used for freight service on the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railroad.

No. 765 spent its first nineteen years on the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern before being sold to the Duluth, Missabe & Iron Range Railway as #1330 in 1948. She was retired from revenue service when the DM&IR dieselized in 1962.

It is now a static display at the Gary Depot in Gary, IN.


No. 765 is the only remaining steam locomotive from the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railroad.

The locomotive's lease ended in 1962, when the locomotive was donated to the city of Gary, IN.

It has been on display in Gateway Park on E 4th Ave ever since.
