The numberboard on the Western & Atlantic Railroad 'General'

Numberboards are how railways identify their locomotives. They usually consist of a plaque attatched to the side of the locomotive or simply a number painted on the side of the locomotive. Other rolling stock may also carry numberboards, like freight wagons, carriages and permanent way equipment.
