No. 986 or "Carbon" is a 0-4-0PT (pannier-tank) steam locomotive that runs on the Puffing Billy Railway in Australia.

History[]

"Carbon" was built in 1889 for the West Melbourne site of the Metropolitan Gas Company. In the 1930s it was withdrawn from service and sold privately in 1962. For a few years, in the 1960s, it was used on a circle of track at Walhalla, south-east of Melbourne, Victoria. Then it was taken to the Whistle Stop Amusement Park in Frankston, closer to Melbourne in Victoria. It, at some point in the past, came to run on the Puffing Billy Railway.
